Seg, Adam and Val discern even more precisely what Brainiac is up to on Krypton. And it’s a doozy. Also, those wacky Rankless are still the bane of the elite Kandorians’ existence.
Krypton Ripley they ain’t
So they’re channeling Alien this week and sticking their faces into known parasite hosts. Characters in sci fi never learn, do they?🤣 Seg and Adam enlist Val’s aid to crack one of Brainiac’s probes, but they discover that the parasite within is already gone. I tell ya, Val-El even as a hologram is still the coolest El on the show. And I want to see more secrets of that enigmatic Fortress. And like I told you last week, the show realizes that since it set Brainiac up as the main threat, it’s got to keep us there to keep us interested.
DUHN DUHN DUHN! Guess who the sentry probe does infect? Seg’s friend with the cute little Newt-like daughter. Yeah well shenanz are afoot.
So Miss Krypton Blonde Ambition is still working her long game plan to seduce Seg. And she clearly knows everything he’s up to, including his low-key relationship with Lyta. Subtlety never has been friends with the Els, has it?
Lyta’s still as much of a yawnfest as can be. And we already know how her idealistic story ends. She thinks she’s gonna change things from the inside, change how the Rankless are treated. Yah, she’s going to become the very thing she hates, an even more ruthless version of her mother. This is Lex Luthor’s journey from Smallville already mapped out. But at least Seg knows how to use their unimaginably boring relationship to gather intel.
Kukla, Rao and Ollie
I love multi-faced Voice of Rao dude. I’m secretly hoping that whoever’s under there is someone that was presumed dead. Or maybe a woman. Or maybe there’s more than one person that wears that mask. I also love his little groupie Scribe Nuns, with the ancient writings on their face and skin. It’s little subtle touches like that that make the audience crave more of the story.
Sector 19 seems to be where the Black Zero gang is hiding out. Lyta tries in vain to use mercy in the hunt. Everybody knows that Seg lives down there. “The higher you rise, the more eyes that are eager to watch you fall.” Can’t everyone clearly see that Lyta and her mother are going to fight to the death at some point?
I hate every scene in that stupid bar. It’s just awfully lame. It’s the biggest “try too hard” part of the show.
Lyta really thinks she’s gonna get her relatively non-violent approach through the heads of the bloodthirsty Sagitari she now commands. Holy Moses is she fourteen kinds of wrong.
Blah blah blah a real Romeo and Juliet moment as children of warring houses stare at each other. They also have one of my biggest pet peeves, when characters are written as doomed from the start. That just gets on my royal nerves.
Also a cool wink to a Daxamite hunting blade.
The Horse I Rode In On
Brainiac’s probe starts to rewrite Not Ripley’s DNA and it’s ugly. My only problem with that is, as it turns her into a super soldier, there’s nothing subtle or infiltratey about that approach. How could Brainiac low key investigate a planet when his probe so obviously alters its host? And if his goal is not to be subtle, why use a parasitic device at all? Why not just do obvious scans out in the open?
So of course her rampage against the Sagitari spells bad news for the people of Sector 19. They’re already guilty for being poor, as poor people always are. Lyta arrests one of her own for unlawfully killing a rankless citizen, trying to be all noble and what not. Lyta is so doomed, it’s not even funny.
Female Brainy Spy continues her completely clumsy overt rampage in gathering information for Brainzo. Lyta and Seg continue to try and make their stupid relationship work. Lyta keeps making ALL the wrong moves. She gives Seg the EMP to help him shut down his BrainiWashed friend/former lover. But she’s all plugged in to the Brainy Matrix now, so buh bye. Krypton is worthy of collection and all. “You will be collected.” Hah stealing those Borg lines, are we?
Seg almost talks Rohm back out, but ends up setting off the EMP anyway. Lights out, snoodles. Seg’s bleeding heart won’t allow him to use his unplugged friend as evidence of Brainiac’s impending incursion. Small-minded on his part.
She’s the signal. Brainiac is ten steps ahead.
Can’t wait until he shows up and confronts Seg-El the Brood Warrior.

Another fun episode of Krypton, my only concern at this point is what they’re going to do once the Brainiac arc is wrapped up. But, it’s still fun to watch. And the grits hit the pan next week!
